The consumer: 40 year old woman diagnosed five (5) years ago with severe orthopedic limitations in her back, shoulders, and hip, with a secondary diagnosis of an L4-L5 herniated disc deficit, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Before MPTN-VR: She was out of work, lost her Workmen's Compensation case, and was feeling somewhat depressed about not being able to work since she had an extensive work history.
After enrolling in MPTN-VR: At the time of her enrollment with MPTN-VR, the consumer was also beginning to work with the Rhode Island Office of Rehabilitative Services (RI-ORS), so she was quickly able to identify a career goal. Subsequently, she became enrolled in training to become a teacher's assistant, has successfully completed the training and passed the Rhode Island State Certification exam to begin her career as a teacher's assistant.
Consumer's Opinion: The consumer's entire process within MPTN-VR has been positive and has solidified her desire to now work within a Native American program.
The consumer: 60 year old man diagnosed with a depressive disorder.
After enrolling in MPTN-VR: The consumer began working toward a long-cherished career goal of becoming a tractor trailer driver. He has completed a 10 week training program, and has recently accepted a job.
Consumer's Opinion: The consumer is elated over his experience with MPTN-VR and the driver training school, and is optimistic about his future.

After enrolling in MPTN-VR: The consumer is presently in the 2nd semester of a 16 month nurse's training program and is working to obtain her LPN license. She is about to incorporate Native American traditional services into her Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
Consumer's Opinion: The consumer has consistently informed both the VR counselor and the rehabilitation technician as to how important MPTN-VR is to her and how pleased she is with its services on her behalf.
